Redlands Daily Facts: New report finds low completion rates for Inland Empire community college students

Getting a degree is a far-fetched dream for many in the Inland Empire – just three in 10 students attending community colleges walk out with a diploma under their arm.The figures for transfer students are even bleaker – only two in 10 make it to a four-year university, according to “Divided We Fail: Inland Empire Regional Profile,” a report released last month by The Campaign for College Opportunity and the Institute for Higher Education Leadership and Policy at Sacramento State University.

The report is a part of a comprehensive study which tracked more than a 250,000 students who entered a California Community College in 2003-04 and analyzed their progress over the next six years.”The results of this report show that we have a long way to go to achieve the levels of student success needed to create 1 million additional college graduates for California’s work force needs by 2025,” said Michele Siqueiros, executive director of CCO.

Thank you to all the parents and students for attending our Spring BBQ!  Also, we would like to extend a BIG thank you the AMVETS Post #20 for allowing us to hold the event at their location.

I have included some pictures from the BBQ for your viewing pleasure.

We had a lot of fun, we had a great turn out, and especially we had the exclusive opportunity to hear the sounds of a youth mariachi band, Cielito Lindo.  Great job guys!  Be sure to come by our 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, they will be performing again.
