Children from the AMVETS Post #20 helped build, plant, and install a vegetable garden and irrigation system for the Summer Institute 2011.  Many of these children will be participating in the Summer Institute 2011 Farmers Market.

Each child planted at least one plant of their choice.  We planted rosemary, basil, jalapeños, cilantro, tomatoes, green onions, several different types of melons.  Come by when you get a chance and watch us grow!

Also, Summer Institute 2011 students will be coordinating a Farmers Market, selling many of our organic vegetables.  So stay tuned and see you soon!

Here are more pictures from yesterday’s planting event!

Food Revolution

I particularly enjoyed this episode of Food Revolution.  Jamie Oliver teaches a group of students what are the key ingredients in the typical ice cream sundaes we love so much.  Jaime Oliver rule of thumb: If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it.
